How does the Scapeshift Valakut combo work?
Once Valakut is online, Scapeshift decks essentially draw a Lightning Bolt (or better) every turn. Rather than its ramp spells being blanks, and rather than lands meaning the deck floods out, Scapeshift decks are happy to snap off Valakut triggers until the game is over.
Is Scapeshift good MTG?

Field of the Dead’s last ability counts itself and the land entering the battlefield in addition to whichever other lands you control. If multiple lands enter the battlefield simultaneously, possibly including Field of the Dead itself, all of those lands are counted.
What if Valakut is a mountain?
If a Mountain you control leaves the battlefield between the time Valakut’s second ability triggers and the time it resolves, be aware if that was the Mountain that caused Valakut’s ability to trigger or not. If it was, Valakut’s count isn’t affected; if it wasn’t, Valakut’s count goes down by one.
Is Valakut a red card?
As you can see this card is clearly a red card (the coloring beneath the text) and it provides red colored mana if tapped.
Can Valakut trigger itself?
If you throw in the enchantment Prismatic Omen you can deal even more damage. This is because Prismatic Omen will make the Valakut itself into a Mountain. In the example above the Valakut itself will trigger it’s own ability allowing you to deal a total of 21 points of damage.
