How do you use Duke Activity Status Index?
The Duke Activity Status Index is a patient-reported estimate of functional capacity, maximal oxygen consumption (VO2 max) and maximum metabolic equivalent of tasks (METs)….Result:
- DASI = Sum of questionnaire responses.
- VO2 max (in mL/kg/min) = 0.43 x DASI + 9.6.
- METs (in metabolic equivalents) = VO2 max / 3.5.
How do I read my DASI score?
DASI scoring: Positive responses are summed to get a total score, which ranges from 0 to 58.2. Higher scores indicate higher functional capacity.
What is a DASI score?
Estimates functional capacity. Answers are self-reported. Provides an estimate of functional capacity, and may not be as accurate as objective measurements such as exercise stress testing.
How is METs functional capacity calculated?
The formula to use is: METs x 3.5 x (your body weight in kilograms) / 200 = calories burned per minute. For example, say you weigh 160 pounds (approximately 73 kg) and you play singles tennis, which has a MET value of 8.
What is Dasi METs?
DASI is a 12-item questionnaire that assesses daily activities such as household tasks, personal care, and recreation. It also provides the respective metabolic cost; each of the items has a specific weight based on the metabolic cost of task (MET).
What is a good METs score?
Any score below 7 should trigger concern. A score of 10 is good. Some occupations, such as firefighting, are best performed by those with a MET score of 12 or higher. If you are not happy with your MET score, your doctor can help you figure out how to improve your exercise habits.
What is a good METs score for a stress test?
Exercise capacity is based on metabolic equivalents (MET) achieved, (one MET is defined as 3.5 mL O2 uptake/kg per min, which is the resting oxygen uptake in a sitting position). Less than 5 METS is poor, 5–8 METS is fair, 9–11 METS is good, and 12 METS or more is excellent.
What is a good MET level?
A score of 10 is good. Some occupations, such as firefighting, are best performed by those with a MET score of 12 or higher. If you are not happy with your MET score, your doctor can help you figure out how to improve your exercise habits.
How many METs is a good workout?
Moderate-intensity activities are those that get you moving fast enough or strenuously enough to burn off three to six times as much energy per minute as you do when you are sitting quietly, or exercises that clock in at 3 to 6 METs. Vigorous-intensity activities burn more than 6 METs.
What is a normal METs?
This table gives examples of light-, moderate-, and vigorous-intensity activity for healthy adults: Light (1.6-3.0 METs) Moderate (3.0-6.0 METs) Vigorous (6.0+ METs)
