Can you visit the Stax Records?
Sitting south of downtown Memphis, the Stax Museum of American Soul Music is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m and is closed on Monday. General admission costs $13 for adults, $12 for seniors and students and $10 for children ages 9 to 12 (children 8 and younger get in free).
How long does it take to go through the Stax Museum?
It is actually a self guided tour so you can take as long or as short a tour as you like. But there it TONS to look at and read. Some artists may be of more interest than others so you could move through parts very quickly. I believe we were in there about an hour – 1.5 hours.

Is Stax Records still open?
After Concord Records acquired Fantasy in 2004, the Stax label was reactivated, and is today used to issue both the 1968–1975 catalog material and new recordings by current R&B and soul performers. Atlantic Records continues to hold the rights to the vast majority of the 1959–1968 Stax material.
