Is there a train in Griffith Park?
The train at Griffith Park & Southern Railroad travels over one mile of track, across a bridge, through a forest and the Old Western Town. You can also try our T-6 simulator ride, a fun adventure for all ages!
When did travel town open?
Travel Town was dedicated on December 14, 1952. The concept of a combined transportation museum and recreation center blossomed, and wishes for donations were generously fulfilled. In 1965, Travel Town’s exhibits were re-grouped, and the park re-dedicated. Today, Travel Town is in a state of new growth and development.
Is Griffith Park lights open?
It is open daily from 10am-4pm, then reopens at 5pm for the holiday ride. We close between 4pm-5pm in order to give our employees a break before the evening shift and to prepare for the holiday festivities.
Are dogs allowed at Travel Town?
Dogs are allowed on leash throughout the Travel Town Museum in Griffith Park in LA. Here you can see many trains, cars and lots more.
Does Travel Town cost money?
There is no admission fee to visit Travel Town! The Museum is free every day to all of our visitors, but donations are cheerfully encouraged and gratefully accepted!
How much are LA Zoo Lights tickets at the door?
Simply show your ticket at the gate on your mobile device for entry into the event. Is there a member discount? Tickets are just $15 for most nights with GLAZA Membership.
Are dogs allowed on the Griffith Park Train?
It offers visitors the chance to see and examine at close hand many different types of vehicles, from a 104-ton locomotive to a one-horse shay. Dogs on a leash are welcome throughout the museum.

Access to Griffith Park is free, though there is paid parking closest to the Observatory. There are public restrooms located next to the Observatory parking lot. Trailheads on Observatory grounds lead to Mount Hollywood, the Greek Theatre area, and Fern Dell.
Is the L.A. Zoo worth going to?
There are so many zoos around Southern California but for us, nothing beats the good old LA Zoo. It’s close by, appeals to kids of all ages, has great exhibits and programs, and even has a petting zoo where kids can get hands-on experience with animals.
Can you see animals at L.A. Zoo Lights?
Beginning Friday, Nov. 19, guests will enjoy exciting holiday features and entertainment for the 2021-2022 season, including beautifully lit animals, unique hand-crafted Chinese silk lanterns, and a high-tech interactive display where dancing lights respond to guests’ voices.
Can you take a dog on a sleeper train?
If you’re travelling in a Caledonian Sleeper room, you’re welcome to bring your pet (or pets) with you.
Can you still walk around Griffith Observatory when it’s closed?
You can walk around the entire building and enjoy the views even when the observatory is closed.
Is it free to go to the Griffith Observatory?
Griffith Observatory is a free-admission facility located on the south side of Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park. The building and grounds are accessible for all visitors.
What Zoo is better L.A. or San Diego?
San Diego Zoo is superior thanks mostly to its “other stuff” like the aerial tramway, bus guided tours, and more. The wildlife lineup likewise gives it an edge, but not a pronounced one. With that said, base 1-day tickets to San Diego Zoo cost nearly triple the price of those to Los Angeles Zoo.
